Donald Berman Piano

Bargemusic

★ Donald Berman (Friday) This adventurous and excellent pianist presents an intriguing recital program at Bargemusic, the floating concert hall nestled at a dock near the Brooklyn Bridge. Mr. Berman, who won wide acclaim for his invaluable 1999 CRI release, “The Unknown Ives,” which offered premiere recordings of unpublished Ives works in new critical editions, plays Ives Four Transcriptions from “Emerson” and Study No. 23 with “Hello, My Baby.” He will also perform Schubert’s beguiling “Moments Musicaux,” two works by Scott Wheeler, and the veteran composer Martin Boykan’s “Usurpations,” in anticipation of his recording of Mr. Boykan’s piano works on the Bridge label, due out in October. At 7 p.m., Bargemusic, Fulton Ferry Landing, next to the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, 800-838-3006, bargemusic.org; $35, $30 for 65+, $15 for students. (Tommasini)
